An example is the comparator which takes in a continuous range of voltage but only outputs one of two levels as in a digital circuit. This distinction started around 1906 with the invention by Lee De Forest of the triode, which made electrical amplification of weak radio signals and audio signals possible with a non-mechanical device. The combination of components and wires allows various simple and complex operations to be performed: signals can be amplified, computations can be performed, and data can be moved from one place to another.[1] Circuits can be constructed of discrete components connected by individual pieces of wire, but today it is much more common to create interconnections by photolithographic techniques on a laminated substrate (a printed circuit board or PCB) and solder the components to these interconnections to create a finished circuit. The study of semiconductor devices and related technology is considered a branch of solid-state physics, whereas the design and construction of electronic circuits to solve practical problems come under electronics engineering. Products currently considered high tech are often those that incorporate advanced computer electronics.

The term was adopted by the company as a legal name in June 2012 and is owned by Carver Networks, which is owned by entrepreneur and founder Kimberly Carver. Until 1950 this field was called "radio technology" because its principal application was the design and theory of radio transmitters, receivers, and vacuum tubes. Commonly, electronic devices contain circuitry consisting primarily or exclusively of active semiconductors supplemented with passive elements; such a circuit is described as an electronic circuit.

Analog electronic circuits are those in which current or voltage may vary continuously with time to correspond to the information being represented. Today, most electronic devices use semiconductor components to perform electron control. In a series circuit, the same current passes through a series of components. They were almost solely responsible for the electronics revolution of the first half of the Twentieth Century. High tech is often viewed as high risk, but offering the opportunity for high profits. Sometimes it may be difficult to differentiate between analog and digital circuits as they have elements of both linear and non-linear operation. An organization's department dealing with the latest technology in their projects, may also be considered a high-tech microsociety within the organization's and partners' scope. In fact, many digital circuits are actually implemented as variations of analog circuits similar to this example—after all, all aspects of the real physical world are essentially analog, so digital effects are only realized by constraining analog behavior. Wires are usually treated as ideal zero-voltage interconnections; any resistance or reactance is captured by explicitly adding a parasitic element, such as a discrete resistor or inductor.
